A Fabindia outlet at Candolim in Goa was sealed by the police today as the male staffers were caught watching through CCTV camera Union human resource minister Smriti Irani changing in the trial room.
The shocking act of the male staffers was identified by Irani herself when today morning she was in the trial room of the nationally networked outlets of readymade apparel.
North Goa SP Umesh Gaonkar told goanews.com that the male members would be arrested for intruding into female’s privacy and capturing their digital images.
As soon as she identified a CCTV camera peeping from outside into the trial room, Irani immediately rushed into action and also called up local BJP MLA Michael Lobo.
Lobo has now officially filed a complaint against the Fabindia outlet.
According to the police, the CCTV camera outside the trial room was turned towards the trial room and could capture the person inside changing the clothes through the ventilator.
The camera on top, according to police, was focussed on the mirror inside the trial room.
The police have now sealed the shop while also confiscating the Digital Video Recorder of the CCTV kit.
Statement of Irani has also been recorded by the police while the male staffers are being interrogated.
“Offence has been registered under Section 354 C and 509 of IPC”, SP Gaonkar said.
Following Lobo, Sankhli MLA Pramod Sawant, Mahila leader Kunda Chodankar as well as chief minister’s secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavde also rushed the spot.
Fabindia has total 187 stores in 75 cities of total seven countries, including India.
In Goa, Fabindia has four outlets – Candolim, Mapusa, Panaji and Margao.
