In a bid to "maintain decorum", Goa government's Art and Culture Department has asked its employees not to wear sleeveless clothes, jeans, T-shirts and multi-pocketed pants during the office hours.
This was revealed by State Art and Culture Minister Dayanand Mandrekar during the ongoing state Legislative Assembly session, in response to a question.
He told the House that the order asking the employees to wear only formal clothes, was recently issued by the Director of the department Prasad Lolienkar.
"It is once again instructed that employees shall wear only formal dress and not wear jeans, corduroy, T-shirts, trousers with multiple pockets and sleeveless dresses during the office hours and official functions of the Directorate," Art and Culture Director Prasad Lolayekar has said in the inter-office memo.
The memo was the part of annexure attached to the minister's reply on the floor of the House.
The order also designated the department's deputy directors to keep a watch if any employee violates the dress code.
