GU not implementing reservation policy properly
PRAKASH KAMAT/THE HINDU, PANAJI | 13 October 2014 23:08 IST

In an open letter to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Goa University authorities, civil society members have once again expressed their concern at what they call improper implementation of the national policy of reservations at Goa University (GU).
In June 2014, it was admitted by the University authorities that there had been violations of the system of reservations in recruitment as laid down in the Constitution.
It had cancelled some appointments after civil society groups raised the issue in an open letter to Chief Minister and University.
However, the civil society members have now pointed out that the University failed to rectify the manner in which the provisions for reservation have been systematically undermined in the recruitment to various posts.
“This is a fundamental and grave violation of the Constitution. It also exposes the flagrant injustice done to the ST, SC and OBC communities of Goa for many years,” said the letter.
The letter also demanded that all the recent appointments in the General category be cancelled, as they are completely illegal.

On caste system contd..... There is another problem. There are some social leaders or self styled intellectuals who talk and write a lot on equality. But if you x-ray them they are exploiting the gutter of caste system to style themselves as champion of equality. But in practice they do least. They are like vultures feeding on the carcass of decomposed caste system. We should know to identify such people. If caste system vanishes these people would loose job.

For info of Mr. Mathew. Caste is degeneration of Varna system. Varna was based on ability and aptitude to use modern words. The different vocations and professions organized to form caste system. Each caste represents a particular profession. Like Bhatji rendering temple service, thavai doing carpentry, shet makes jewelleries etc. Cates are redundant today in today's modern professional model. However it will continue till eternity as it has political blessing. It is a simpliest way to extract govt favour. Unfortunately even in India Christians and Muslims also have system. It surfaces its ugly head during elections.

Caste divides Goans, specially Goan Hindus among themselves. It is a shame even to talk about Caste in this 21st Century. Caste is purely a divide & rule policy. All Hindus pray to Ram, all Christians pray to Jesus and all Muslims pray to Allah. All pray to their one God then how caste came in between them. Who brought caste to divide them? Why Caste is between in their religion? Why Caste is required when we have religion? Still I am searching an answer “What Caste they have given to Jesus Christ”?.....
