Ram Sene issue is a media creation: Parrikar

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar today blamed the media for creating hype about Pramod Muthalik and his Ram Sene coming to Goa.
He has already banned Ram Sene’s entry into Goa, following media reports about opening Goa branch next month.
“Why media gives importance to characters like Pramod Muthalik? Simply ignore him and he will stop making such hollow announcements”, said Parrikar while speaking in the Assembly today.
“हे मिडियावाले चूड दाखोवन म्हारू घरांत हाडपाक सोदतात,” (these media persons are getting the ghost in by lighting a torch), he said, using the Konkani proverb.
According to Parrikar, Ram Sene should have not been an issue if the media persons had not asked him every time he came here whether he is opening a branch in Goa.
“I equally hold media responsible for the Ram Sene issue”, alleged Parrikar.
Muthalik had first announced his intention to start a Goa branch two years ago, during Congress regime.
After Congress taking similar stand at that time to prohibit his entry, he once again came to Goa this year for a Hindu Sammelan, announcing to start a branch by September.
While Parrikar said he would not be allowed, a Tiatr (Konkani drama) “Amka Akantwadi Naka” (we don’t want a terrorist), supposedly on Muthalik, was objected to by Ram Sene leaders from Karnataka by holding a press conference in Goa.
The show was held amidst tight police security, which also hit the media headlines.
