Rebel Wagh stripped of Kala Academy & ESG

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 24 February 2014 15:51 IST

St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh has finally been stripped of two key positions in the BJP-led government – chairman of Kala Academy and vice chairman of Entertainment Society of Goa.

In a notification issued this afternoon, the Manohar Parrikar government has replacement him with Art and Culture Minister Dayanand Mandrekar as the Kala Academy chairman and former MLA Damu Naik as the ESG vice chairman.

It is not considered to be a mere coincidence but an intelligent political move that both Mandrekar and Naik belong to Bhandari community, which Wagh also belongs to.

After consistent opposition to several government policies, Wagh had recently taken the government head on by participating in the dharna against the Medium of Instruction policy, organised by Goa Rakhan Manch.

Wagh is believed to be the topmost contender for Lok Sabha candidature from North Goa, for both the Congress as well as the Nationalist Congress Party.

Though Wagh has been denying this news, he has not hidden his intention to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, if he gets an opportunity, though he did not disclose on which party’s ticket.

The BJP MLA from St Andre had rebelled against the Congress before Assembly election held in 2012, in a similar fashion, protesting against the decision of giving grants to English medium primary schools.

As the same decision is now carried forward by the Parrikar government, Wagh recently dared his party to remove him from all the position as well as to expel him as the party legislator for the ‘principled position’ he has taken.

It needs to be seen now whether Wagh joins either the Congress or the NCP, who had also taken the same stand on the MoI and he had taken ‘principled position’ to oppose the then Congress-NCP government.

Even before the MoI issue, the party had sidelined Wagh by not taking him into confidence while organizing Narendra Modi’s rally in Panaji.

Prior to that, BJP workers from Tivim had allegedly attacked Wagh when he had attended a Kirtan Mahotsav, organised at the initiative of NCP Goa president Nilkanth Halarnkar.

Sorry Mr Wagh....but you failed to "conquer".

Perhaps empty vessels do make a lot of noise, after all.

Poor Wagh (tiger) traveled through many jungles. MGP, Shiv Sena, Congress now BJP. Everywhere he felt he deserved to be coronated. But alas he was not. Now he should create his own jungle and proclaim himself as Maha Wagh.

Vishnu Wagh is unlikely to ever grow up. He is still stunted child. The possibility of him growing-up, has very remote possibilities.

He is behaving like a little boy, sitting in his cushy pram , throwing out his toys and tantrums to draw attention to himself.

Goans are now getting sick & tired of his constant tantrums.

It seems like Vishnu Wagh is mimicking/following/copying Churchill Alemao.

Alemao by all definitions is a traitor.

strangely the Congress welcomes traitors and even worse criminals into its Party.

Vishnu Wagh should also try to use pure Marathi words instead of interspersing his Marathi interviews/conversations/dialogues, with English words.
