Police to try for speedy trial of rape by Tejpal

Goa police is planning to request the court for a speedy trial in a rape case involving Tarun Tejpal, India’s celebrity editor of a national news magazine – Tehelka.
“The amended sections relating to rape, after Delhi’s infamous Nirbhaya rape case, provides for completion of trial within 60 days”, he said.
Tejpal has already spent almost 79 days in police and judicial locks ups, after he was arrested on 30 November.
After filing the suo motto FIR on 22 November, the crime branch of Goa police has filed the chargesheet in 87 days.
Now, under section 309 (1), the public prosecutor plans to request the court for speedy trial, within 60 days.
The chargesheet contains 12 volumes, most of which are annexures, where PI Sunita Sawant and her team have interrogated 152 witnesses, belonging to Tehelka as well as Grant Hyatt Resort at Bambolim.
Tejpal, 50-year old founder editor of Tehelka, is charged for raping his junior colleague on 7 and 8 November, in the lift, during the THiNK Fest the weekly had organised.
Subsequently, Tejpal had also admitted through the emails the offence he had committed.

When are Goan Citizens & Foreigners too,going to get speedy trials of their cases, pending in Goan Courts for several years?
Will other rape & Rape + murder cases i.e the recent one in Canacona, be given such speedy treatment?
Truth be known, perhaps the Goa Police & greedy & corrupt Ministers have not been bribed sufficiently, to delay/spoil this Case.
