Tejpal moves Panaji court for anticipatory bail

While Goa police is searching for the rape accused Tarun Tejpal, he has moved the district and sessions court seeking anticipatory bail.
As per the information gathered, Adv Raunak Rao has moved the application for anticipatory bail before Panaji District and Sessions judge Anuja Prabhudesai.
Tejpal, the founder editor of Tehelka, has been accused of raping his junior colleague at Grand Hyatt at Bambolim, on 7 and 8 November, during a THiNK Fest the national news magazine had organised.
After Delhi high court refused to grant him immediate relief in transit anticipatory bail, Tejpal had withdrawn the bail application, the order on which was scheduled today.
He also sought time till today to appear before the crime branch in Goa when the police refused his request to grant him time till Saturday (tomorrow).
Originally, Tejpal had to appear till 3 pm yesterday.
As he failed to appear, the Goa police team immediately headed for Delhi to arrest him, but could not find him at home.
Meanwhile, the police moved to the court for a non-bailable warrant against Tejpal. It would be probably granted today morning.
Meanwhile, Tejpal has moved for anticipatory bail to evade the arrest.
The order on the bail would not be delivered unless the court gets a ‘say’ of police on the issue.
Till then, Tejpal would obviously not appear before the crime branch, fearing arrest.
