Godse mindset behind Dabholkar murder: Chavan

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said those with the mindset of Nathuram Godse, the sole assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, were behind the killing of Pune rationalist Dr Narendra Dabholkar.
Even after 48 hours, there is no headway in investigations in the murder of Dabholkar.
Speaking to IBN 18 Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai, the Chief Minister clarified his remark saying that he was not levelling charges against anyone.
He said, "It is precisely this mindset that planned and conspired in a pre-meditated cold blooded murder of Mahatma Gandhi, a voice of peace a voice of brotherhood, that voice was unacceptable to certain people. The plot was hatched in Pune and was executed in Delhi. A similar plot was hatched - it was a cold-blooded murder, a pre-meditated murder. Somebody had kept a watch and an innocent who had no fight with anybody except that he was pleading for rationalism, scientific temper and against inhuman sacrifices and had devoted an entire life for a law of that nature to be passed."
When asked if he believed that groups like Sanathan Sanstha, which had openly targeted Dabolar, was behind the killing, he did not comment.
He said, "All I have volunteered and told you that Maharashtra government has recommended Central government to ban two organizations. We are waiting for their reply. It was done two-three months ago."
Chavan added that the killing was the result of ideological rift. He also defended political parties saying, "People who carried out such assassinations do not belong to political parties. Political parties actions are being taken, people are being arrested and cases are going on in the Court. This organization is something which has indulged in bomb making and terrorist activities."
Dabholkar was shot dead in Pune by two motorcycle-borne assailants when he was out for a morning walk near the Omkareshwar temple.
