Three bookies were arrested from Miramar beach in Goa for accepting bets on the one-day cricket match between Sri Lanka and South Africa, police said on Thursday.
Police Inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai said the trio-- Sunil Shukla, Hitesh Desai and Hitesh Jatakia--all hailing from Mumbai, were caught accepting bets last night, few hours into their landing in Goa.
Also, six mobile phones, laptops and other equipments were seized from them during the raid.
Prabhudesai said the bookies are linked to a bigger network outside Goa, which is being probed.
He said the betting was happening online, which is monitored by the group leader in Mumbai.
Sri Lanka defeated South Africa by 128 runs yesterday in Colombo to wrap up the one-day series 4-1.
