NCP doubts Govt decision not to allow dance bars

Nationalist Congress Party said it doubted "intentions" of the Manohar Parrikar-led Goa government in not allowing dance bars in the state.
Alleging that the chief minister will eventually allow dance bars in the state, NCP spokesman Trajano D'Mello said intentions of the state government in this regard are dubious.
"Parrikar's statement that he will not give permission to dance bars is a signal that dance bars are going to come in Goa," D'Mello told press conference here.
He claimed that Parrikar had made a similar statement regarding offshore casinos but later allowed them to function.
"Parrikar had said that he will not allow the casinos but later made a statement that he wants them to earn revenue for the state," D'Mello stated.
The NCP spokesman said that the ruling BJP government had even tried to give permission to Playboy Club, which was later opposed by their own party legislator.
Parrikar yesterday said that if any of the bars are found doubling up as dance bars, their excise licence would be withdrawn.
