Guv urged to intervene in appointing Info Commissioners

The Goa RTI Forum has now approached Goa governor with a plea to get State Information Commission streamlined by appointing commissioners.
The Governor has apparently assured the Forum to take up the matter with Goa government.
The Commission is ‘functioning’ over a year now without either the Chief Information Commissioner or State Information Commissioner.
In view of this, a delegation of RTI Forum, led by its president Nandini Sahay, called on Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo yesterday, submitting him a memorandum.
The Forum has requested the governor to prevail upon the Goa government to fill both the key posts.
The team also apprised him of the problems faced by the people in the absence of the CIC and the SIC for over a year.
The memorandum stated that following a resolution at the RTI convention recently, chief minister Manohar Parrikar had assured on the floor of the House in April to appoint both the commissioners within a month.
Later on, stated the memorandum, the government appointed a committee of three top bureaucrats, headed by the chief secretary, to shortlist the names of applicants.
The final decision in this regard would however be taken by a three-member panel, comprising of the chief minister, the opposition leader and a cabinet minister, as per the RTI Act.
The Forum however said it is surprising that the announcement of the committee to shortlist the names was made with a rider that there was no deadline for appointment of the posts.
“This again has given rise to suspicion about the possible delay tactics in the appointments,” the memorandum stated.
Other members of the Goa RTI Forum team were vice-president Rui Ferreira, secretary Shrikant Barve and treasurer Anil Lad.

RTI is the best thing to happen to the common man, where common man can make accountability for the Corrupt Government Officials corrupt practices and arrogant behavior. They should be told that this common man pay your Salary. Respect this Common Man. Finish their work within days or weeks and not in months.

In order to eliminate the very chronic corruption in all Government Depts, the BJP /Mr Parrikar has introduced the "TIME BOUND" services for its citizens.
Should this concept not be applied to the appointment of SIC/CIC Commissioners.?.
Looks like "practice what you preach" is not applicable in this instance.
If Mr Parrikar is not duty bound to appoint these Commissioners...then who is. And shouldn`t they be made to pay for the delay?
Looks like Mr Parrikar is desperately looking for a "FEKU" yes man to serve his dictatorial style. Only a FEKU would be prepared to serve the CM.
