CM heading Edu Council is dictatorial: NCP

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 25 June 2013 22:02 IST

The Nationalist Congress Party has termed the chief minister heading the Education Advisory Council as the act of dictatorial attitude of Manohar Parrikar.

Parrikar has once again announced that the long-delayed council would be formed by 10 July and he would head it.

The council would then make recommendations to the government on the controversial Medium of Instruction issue.

“How can the Council headed by Parrikar make recommendation to the government headed by Parrikar”, asked Trajano D’Mello, chief spokesperson of the local NCP unit.

The chief minister is hoodwinking the people Goa, he alleged.

According to D’Mello, sitting on the judgement of the confusion of MoI created by him does not permit principles of natural justice.

It is a known fact, he said, that Parrikar had decided to continue grants to 130 Church-run schools out of political compulsion.

“In such a case, it is clear that the head of the panel would have a politicised opinion”, said D’Mello.

He also said that the people who had refused awards and stopped Bhajan competition in protest of Congress decision to give grants to English medium private primary schools had today accepted this government’s same decision.
