Advani withdraws resignation at RSS intervention

With the intervention of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership appears to have succeeded in ending the crisis as party patriarch L K Advani has withdrawn his resignation.
BJP national president Rajnath Singh, after talking to Advani once again, told the media that Advani has decided to return to all his posts he had resigned from.
Following appointment of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi as the poll campaign chief in Goa on Sunday, Advani had yesterday sent his resignation from three posts – the Parliamentary Board, Election Committee and the National Executive.
“He has accepted our plea to return to all posts and has also agreed to stand by any decision the party takes. If there is any issue on the party’s functioning, I will act on it,” announced Singh.
He also confirmed that RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat personally spoke to Advani and asked him to respect the party decision and continue to guide it.
Though Singh addressed the media at Advani’s house, the party patriarch was not present, but Jaswant Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari.
The BJP Parliamentary Board had earlier decided not to accept Advani’s resignation but to persuade him.
