CM Manohar Parrikar visits Chowgules

Admission to Chowgule higher secondary section would begin early next week, assured chief minister Manohar Parrikar today.

He personally visited the Chowgule premises along with ex-MLA Damu Naik and met principal R V Gaonkar.

However, it is not known what exactly conspired between the chief minister and the principal.

Both of them did not speak to the media after the meeting.

Parrikar said he had visited the college since he had not seen the premises.

He told the media that admission forms would be made available to the students seeking admission for Std XI from Monday or Tuesday at the old south zone education office.

Sources in the college however said the chief minister declined the request to go around the campus and have a look at it.

Parrikar said after the expiry of the show cause notice, the education department would requisition the premises on hired basis.

Sources revealed to goanews.com that the government is planning to take over the whole premises of the college if the management remains adamant.

The issue is different here from other government takeovers of the educational institutes in the past since the college and higher secondary sections function from the same past.

The government however is planning to take over only the higher secondary section.

The premises has common rooms for the administration and staff while some of the classrooms are also being used by both college and higher secondary sections.
