Chowgule college management would perhaps decide on admitting students for Std XI in higher secondary section only after the court directive next month.

This is what was told today to the students, who lined up since morning, soon after SSC results were declared yesterday.

As the Chowgule management has decided to shut down the higher secondary section, the high court is presently seized of the matter.

The next hearing is on 17 June, after court opens with an ongoing summer vacation.

Around 250 students, along their parents, came to seek admission in Std XI in different streams.

The principal however allowed them only to register their names and leave a copy of their mark sheets, but did not give them admission forms.

The higher secondary section staff members said they would produce this number to the court, if required, to strengthen their case to continue the higher secondary section.

Parents, who had gathered at the Chowgule campus, also felt that the government should intervene and take a decision since students should not suffer.
