Goa Board Chairman J R Rebello declaring SSC result
With 12 per cent rise than the last year, Goa scored 85.34 per cent results in SSC examination this year.
Altogether 15,795 students passed out of 18,509 appeared for the examination held in March at 24 centres.
The boys and girls scored almost similar, with girls scoring only 0.30 per cent more.
The result of boys is 85.19 per cent while it is 85.49 per cent in case of girls.
Almost 86 schools scored over 95 per cent results, including two schools of special students.
Chairman of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education J R Rebello said the result of this year is 11.96 per cent more than the last year.
It was 73.38 per cent last year while it has been 85.34 per cent this year.
In the last five years however, year 2011 had scored the highest result of 86.05 per cent while it was 83.43 per cent in 2010.
Year 2009 had scored 77 per cent result in SSC examination.
In the exempted category, the overall result has been 45.87 per cent with 44.25 per cent boys and 47.63 per cent girls passing out.
The total result, including from the exempted category, works out to 81.43 per cent.
However, Rebello admitted that there was less number of students appearing for SSC examination last year.
While 18,509 students appeared this year, only 14,200 had appeared last year.
According to Rebello, one of the reasons for more students passing this year could be the Board policy of leaving one or two day gap for studying for difficult subjects.
