Police locate murderer's shirt
One of the two accused in the double murder case near Panjim was admitted to district hospital in south Goa on Saturday night after he complained of ill health.
Oswan Fernades, a contractor, who was arrested along with Ramesh Bhagwe for killing labourer couple Shivaji and Sujata Nayak last weekend and trying to kill the couple's two children, was admitted to Hospicio Hospital in Margao, police said.
Fernandes was being interrogated in the lock-up of Collem police when he felt uneasy and was immediately shifted to the hospital. His condition was now stable, police added.
Meanwhile, a police team led by inspector Jivba Dalvi has recovered a shirt from a creek at Patto near Panaji.
Bhagwe had confessed that he had thrown his own shirt in the creek after the killing.
It was recovered with the help of Fire and Emergency personnel.
Police also revealed the minor daughter of the couple, who was murdered last week, was sexually abused by one of the culprits.
Police have slapped Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against the culprit.
The six-year-old girl and her four-year-old brother were strangled and dumped along a ghat section on Goa-Karnataka border, but both survived.
A senior police official said Bhagwe had confessed to have sexually abused the girl in the car on Monday midnight.
She was dumped two km from the border, inside Karnataka, but a man found her wandering and alerted the police.
Sujata's relatives today arrived from Chikodi village in Karnataka to take the custody of the children and the dead bodies.
Shivaji hails from Gadhinglaj, Maharashtra.
Both the victims were working as labourers with Fernandes at Merces village near here. Fernandes and Bhagwe allegedly killed Shivaji over a petty brawl on last Saturday night, and later killed his wife.
