Nilba & Anuja bag Kala Academy Awards

Konkani writer Nilba Khandekar and Marathi writer Anuja Joshi bagged this year’s most prestigious state literary awards of Goa Kala Academy.
Khandekar bagged the award for his poetry collection ‘Dandkaranya.’
Joshi, also a poet, got the award for her book ‘Utsav.’
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each, a memento and a certificate.
Altogether 27 books in Konkani - both in Devnagari and Romi scripts - and 24 books in Marathi were reviewed by the selection committee for the annual awards of Kala Academy.
Goa Kala Academy chairman Vishnu Wagh has congratulated both the awardees for this honour.
The selection committee for the Konkani in Devnagari script comprised of Dr Narayan Desai, Prof Bhushan Bhave, and Vinanti Kansar Kalangutkar.
The Romi script committee members were Fr Mauzinho Athaide, Prof S M Borges and Walter Menezes.
The final selection committee for Konkani – both the scripts together - was Dr Tanaji Halarnkar, Hema Naik and Martin Menino Fernandes.
The panel for Marathi section consisted of Prof Anil Samant, Aruna Ganu and Prof Vinay Bapat.
The date for the award presentation ceremony will be declared later.
Meanwhile, Dr Aroon Heblekar will be presented Kala Academy’s prestigious Gomant Sharada Puraskar on 25 May.
Dr A P Deshpande, renowned literary personality and honorary secretary of Marathi Vidnyan Parishad of Mumbai, will present the award.
The award comprises Rs one lakh, a citation and a memento.
The function will be presided over by GKA chairman Wagh.
