Goa NRIs allowed Mumbai FRRO access
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 09 May 2013 20:50 IST
The foreign citizens of Indian origin, residing in Goa, would be allowed to process their OCI applications through Mumbai-based Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), till Goa office is opened.
The Goa FRRO, which was supposed to start from 1 April, has been delayed due to problems in getting office space as well as trained manpower.
The NRI Affairs office in Goa has thus requested the FRRO Mumbai to accept and process all the OCI applications from the applicants coming under the jurisdictional control of FRRO Goa until further orders.
This would help in avoiding inconvenience to the applicants residing in Goa, said U D Kamat, Director of NRI Affairs of Goa.
It may be recalled that the Government of India had delegated powers to FRRO Goa for granting / issuing OCI card status to eligible foreign citizens of Indian origin residing within the jurisdiction of Goa.
