Law student Abhijit sentenced to life for murder

Law student Abhijit Patil was sentenced to life imprisonment today for killing his lady colleague in Margao town three years ago.
He had killed Mushroofia Shaikh near State Bank of India in Margao, hardly 200 metres away from the police station
On 13 June 2010, at around 4.25 pm, Abhijit had stabbed her 13 times and then surrendered to the police.
Abhijit was working with her in a city hotel with Mushroofia, but had later left the job to pursue law.
While studying in first year of his law studies, he killed her as she did not respond to the marriage proposal in spite of repeated efforts.
Additional sessions judge Desmond D’Costa sentenced life imprisonment today.
Soon after his arrest, within three months, Abhijit had escaped from Sada sub-jail, along with another murder accused Hitler and Seby Ferrao, accused in theft.

"Mushroofia was our lone source of income. The hotel owner has not settled her provident fund till date,” her crying parents Nizamuddin and Jainat Bi told goanews.com.
