This is the fifth consecutive year, said Secondary and Higher Secondary Board Examination chairman J R Rebello, the HSSE result is 82 per cent on an average.

The stream topping the list is vocational, with 87.83 per cent result, followed by Science with 84.98 per cent.

Commerce stream has scored 83.86 per cent while Arts result is 74.68 per cent.

Incidentally, 2755 students each have passed in both Science and Vocational streams.

However, Commerce actually tops the list with 3553 students having passed while 2032 students have passed in Arts stream.

Five higher secondary schools have scored over 95 per cent result, said secretary B G Shetye, four of which are from South and only one from the North.

In fact three of them are from one Salcete taluka alone while the fourth one is adjacent to Salcete, in Verna.

These are Carmel Higher Secondary School, Nuvem; Damodar Higher Secondary School, Margao; Rosary Higher Secondary School, Navelim; Fr Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna and DM’s Higher Secondary School, Mulgao (Bicholim).

Besides 10,542 having passed in regular category, 207 students also passed in exempted category, with 34 per cent passing.

The passing percentage has been around 82 per cent for the last five years.

It was 82.55 per cent in 2009, 82.52 in 2010, 81.71 in 2011 and 83.36 per cent last year.

Rebello said the Board would try and declare its results within 40 days of the examination, from next year.

Though he did not specify the date of SSC results, he said it would be declared before 25 May
