Vested interests defame NGOs: CM

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 26 April 2013 15:23 IST

Non-government organizations do good work, but some vested interests sometimes pretend to be NGOs and create problems, feels chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

To substantiate his claim, he cited a recent example who objected to Suryanamaskar started in schools.

“This was a fake NGO and the address it had given is a government office”, he told the media persons.

He said the particular person wanted to simply create communal tension by raking up unnecessary controversy over Suryanamaskar because BJP is ruling Goa.

“The compulsion of Suryanamaskar is the notification issued by union human resource ministry headed by Kapil Sibal”, he said.

Once it comes from the centre, the Suryanamaskar now becomes secular, he commented with a smiling face.

He however appreciated the NGOs doing good work in Goa.

They even point out mistakes the government commits and gives us an opportunity to correct ourselves, said Parrikar.
