Goa has decided not to allow any person in the hotels as well as cyber cafes without valid identity cards in view of intelligence inputs regarding terrorist threats on the whole western coast of India.
Two notifications have been issued by the district magistrates of the tourist state while also authorizing the police to file a case against the owners of hotels and cyber cafes if they do not follow the guidelines.
Regarding the hotels, guest houses and inns, the notification states that most of the names and other details like telephone numbers of the inmates have been found to be bogus.
The notification has thus also been extended to lodging, boarding, private guest houses as well as paying guest accommodation of religious bodies.
Similarly, the cyber cafes are found to have been used by terrorists and criminals to mislead the security agencies, create panic in the public, endanger the security of the VVIPs and vital installations as well as help the terrorists.
The notifications have thus directed all these managements to prohibit any visitor who does not produce valid identity card.
The valid cards include election card, driving license, smart card, employment card, ATM or any other authorized identity.
The owners have also been told to maintain register of all the visitors and intimate the police about any suspicious activity noticed in the premises.
In addition, the cyber cafes have been directed to immediately install CCTVs cameras and maintain at least 30-day footage.
