Advance bill payment scheme for NRGs
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 17 April 2013 21:32 IST

Goa government is planning a special scheme for Non Resident Goans to pay all its taxes of at least three years in advance.
“We will work out the scheme through the NRI Cell”, assured chief minister Manohar Parrikar today.
It was a demand made by Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo to improve tax collection machinery while reducing inconvenience to the NRGs living abroad.
While he demanded a system of paying house taxes and shop taxes in advance, Parrikar said it could also be extended to water and power bills.
“They can pay bills of up to three years through a depository at NRI cell “, said the chief minister.
Stating that he would work out a scheme, Parrikar said the NRI Cell could then transfer the taxes to respective authorities, including panchayats.
“Otherwise our NRGs come to Goa and spend most of their time in paying these pending bills”, said Parrikar.
