“My schemes are not doles and they are not making Goans lazy”, claims chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

While Parrikar has come out with several populist schemes for various sections of the society, the opposition has criticized it alleging that these schemes have made people lazy as they get readymade money sitting at home.

“Which is the scheme you want me to discontinue”, asked the chief minister to the opposition benches in the House today.

He listed out several schemes, while justifying that they are meant for the needy.

The Dayanand Samajik Suraksha Yojana is meant for the people above 60 years, he said.

The scheme for widows is the schemes meant for needy women in distress, he pointed out.

Does opposition want me to stop the scheme meant for the specially abled people, he asked.

He said the Ladli Laxmi scheme of Rs one lakh to the girls above 18 years would not facilitate to utilize that money either for education or to start business.

He also countered the allegation of religious discrimination while providing benefits of the schemes by sidelining the minorities.
