Three Porvorim teens drown near Tillari dam

Three teens in their 20s from Porvorim met a watery grave yesterday at Tillari river in Dodamarg.

Two bodies were recovered till yesterday evening.

Search operations began early morning today once again as it was difficult to search in the dark after sunset.

The locals and the Dodamarg police managed to retrieve dead bodies of Imran Dayab Badekhan (20) and Ramzaan Fakruddin Chndwale (22).

Search was  on to find Tohafin Dattagir Badekhan (18).

A group of seven youngsters from TNT colony in Porvorim had gone for a picnic at Tillarwadi, near Tillari dam, across the Goa border in Maharashtra.

While one group got into the river water to wash their vehicle at around 3.30 pm, these three youngsters decided to have a swim.

However, they were unable to judge the river depth and started drowning.

The four persons unsuccessfully tried to rescue them.

Locals rushed to the shore hearing their shouts for help.

The Dodamarg police also later joined the local villagers, to rescue two bodies one after another.
