"Builders leaving colonies as stray dogs"

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 01 April 2013 21:43 IST

“Builders are leaving the buildings like stray dogs, this cannot be tolerated”, said; not the opposition, but chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

If he is to be believed, then the pending issue of formation of housing co-operative societies may get resolved.

While speaking on the demands of the town and country planning, Parrikar came down heavily on the builders.

“I am not against constructions, but the builders also need to behave in a responsible manner,” said Parrikar.

He was critical of the rampant phenomena in Goa of constructing colonies but not converting it into housing co-operative societies.

The builders fear losing land ownership and keep the housing society issue pending, he pointed out.

“I will set the issue right by May end and give right of the flat to the owner”, Parrikar assured the House.

He also said that registration of each and every real estate agent would be implemented with a firm hand.

Referring to the demand made by some opposition MLAs including former chief minister Digambar Kamat, Parrikar also assured to reduce the infrastructure tax a bit.

“I cannot tell you how much, but I would look into it and see how much I can reduce it”, he said.
