CCP Act to be amended, Vaidehi to continue: CM
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 20 March 2013 17:51 IST

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has said he plans to bring an amendment to the City Corporation of Panaji act in the ongoing Assembly session.
In an informal chat with the media persons at the Assembly complex, Parrikar also said Vaidehi Naik would continue as Mayor till the issue is resolved.
The government today suddenly postponed elections of Mayor and Deputy Mayor, stating that it is examining the request made by some citizens to reserve the posts for scheduled caste, scheduled tribe or Other Backward Classes.
“We are examining the request and may also bring an amendment the CCP Act to that effect if required”, said Parrikar.
Parrikar has been criticized for throttling democracy by postponing elections since the opposition Mayor and Deputy Mayor were to be elected.
He however did not comment on the allegations.
