Passport officer Kishen Kumar manhandled
Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik has asked the Goa passport officer to take urgent steps to set right the harassment caused to the people while the passport officer was manhandled by the applicants yesterday.
In an email sent to Goa’s passport officer Kishen Kumar from Australia, where he is presently part of a delegation, has also charged that agents and touts are getting priority in clearing passport applications over general applicants.
The furious applicant yesterday barged to Kumar’s office and even manhandled him when he came out to meet them, amidst police protection.
After reading about the news on Internet, Naik promptly sent him an email, urging him to scrutinize the applications in a transperant manner.
While stating that Kumar does not entertain the MPs to intervene, Naik now plans to personally approach external affairs minister Salman Khurshid and also raise the issue in Rajya Sabha.
He also feels that the passport office is creating man-made hurdles while there is also something wrong with the electronic system.
The appointment is sought through passport office website, where people literally struggle since the whole exercise gets over within two minutes or less and they miss the chance for days together.
Due to this, many people miss their employment opportunities, allege the applicants.
Naik asks why agents and touts are entertained by charging them heavy amount when common applicants are deprived of rightful appointments.
