The body of a young girl was found in the forest area of Assagao village near Mapusa town. Police suspect it to be a case of rape.
Police have identified the 19-year old girl as Rekha Karath from Sanquelim.
Police have also identified the accused as Ranjit Tuenkar from Anjuna. He is however absconding.
The naked body of Rekha was found with her head smashed on Thursday.
The body was found by two forest guards, who were on a routine visit to Assagao nearly 15 kms from Pananji.
The guards also saw the suspect rushing out of the forest on a scooter, the police official claimed.
"The suspect is currently on the run," a police official said.

read previous goa news article gentlemen. Parrikar is only cm and home minister in india who boasted delhi type rapes will not happen in his rule because he the great is rulling. When other states declared measures for public safety.people criticised him then not to make such statements. Truth is rapist rape because they want to rape they dont look whether its a 2 year old child or 80 year old lady or even a girl or boy. Its duty of rulers to take precautions for public safety and speedy justice. If govt is serious it would have created fast track courts at district level, made law against peodofiles, etc. You dont do anything and make comments adding insult to injury.

Bushan bab can any government stop such type of incidents. in this incident it’s very clear that something wrong have happen between the two which have amounted to this. Now the question will be why the culprit is not arrested. Can this happen overnight it will take some time lets no mix such type of uncontrollable incidents with the performance of government

Bhushan-bab,
Why blame Parrikar for the murder and rapes. Is it the first time such things have been happening in Goa or will it be the last time. 'Vikrut pravruti' or 'deranged predators and psycho mentalists will always exist in any society, what we need are tough regulations/laws and policing. Beside of course, politicians with will and not power hunger .

now what parrikar the big mouth and his chamchas to say on this. Are they saying this is a conspiracy to malign the govt? Or is this the great revolutionary progress his govt has made to goa? Is this the new law and order? Or is this the thing that never happened?
