Punjabi film gets international Peacock at IFFI

Gurvinder Singh’s Punjabi film ‘Anhey Ghorhey Da Daan’ bagged Golden Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 40,00,000/- shared equally between the Director and Producer.
National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) is the producer of the film.
Best Director’s award went to Kyu-hwan Jeon for his film ‘The Weight’. He got Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 15,00,000/-.
Best Actor (Male) award went to Marcin Dorocinski for his remarkable performance in Polish-Russian-German movie ‘Rose’.
The award was presented in absentia as the actor had to leave early. The award carries Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10,00,000/-
Anjali Patil’s heartwarming performance in Prasanna Vithanage’s Sinhala-Tamil movie ‘With You, Without You’ won her the Best Actor (Female) award.
It carries Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10,00,000/-.
Special Jury Award went to Lucy Mulloy for her Spanish movie ‘Una Noche’. She got Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 15,00,000/-.
Curtains came down on The 43rd International Film Festival of India with the screening of Meera Nair’s ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ in Goa today.
With this 11-day extravaganza of films, discussions and press conferences on films came to an end. Governor of Goa Bharat Veer Wanchoo, Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar, Bollylwood stars Jackie Shroff, Shreyas Talpade, Payal Rohtagi, among others were present at the closing ceremony. he Chief Guest was Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna.
The Guest of Honour was award winning Australian Director Paul Cox. The festival started with the screening of Oscar Award winner Ang Lee’s ‘Life of Pi’.
The IFFI this year celebrated the centenary year of Indian Cinema by bestowing the ‘Centenary Film Award’ to Meera Nair’s ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’.
This film was selected by a special jury panel for deftly showcasing the glory of cinema as a medium. It reflects a new paradigm in motion pictures in terms of aesthetics, technique and technological innovation.
The award carries Silver Peacock, Certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10,00,000/-.
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Raghavendra Singh, Festival Director, Shankar Mohan and Secretary, Information and Public Relations, Government of Goa, Krishnamurty were also present at the closing ceremony.
