A 25-year-old Russian woman, lodged at a state shelter home here after cops busted an online prostitution racket, allegedly tried to kill herself over delay in releasing her from the facility.

The Old Goa police received a complaint from the state government over the alleged suicide attempt by the woman, who was rescued along with another foreigner by Calangute Police last month from racketeers operating in the northern coastal belt, Investigating Officer Sagun Sawant said today.

According to the authorities concerned, the woman tried to end her life yesterday by slashing one of her wrists.
