Konkani notings on Govt files to begin soon

Government is planning a pocket directory for its officers with administrative terminology in Konkani for notings on the files.
A mention in this regard was made by chief minister Manohar Parrikar this week at the concluding session of a workshop on Konkani language for seniormost officers at secretary level.
Dr Prakash Vazarikar, director of official language, elaborated on it while talking to goanews.com.
The chief minister has proposed to now begin notings on files in Konkani, Goa’s state official language, he said.
The idea is to begin the process with circulating files with notings in Konkani.
The department is now working on preparing a pocket directory with all the necessary terminology and even complete sentences in Konkani that would substitute English notings, said Dr Vazarikar.
The chief minister feels that all the officers should have this pocket directory with them all the time so that they initially don’t find any difficulty in writing notings in Konkani.
Following this, the official language department is also planning complete administrative terminology in Konkani.
The government has already completed an exercise of preparing basic administrative terminology in Konkani, at the initiative taken by the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology.
“The book of this basic terminology is already in the press”, he informed.
Dr Vazarikar however is planning an extensive exercise in this direction, preparing terminology for each and every department and all the respective fields pertaining government administration.
