House Com formed to probe Ravi & Roy in drug trade
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 06 August 2012 13:49 IST

The Goa government today constituted a House Committee, as assured, to probe into the drug nexus between former home minister Ravi Naik’s son Roy as well as the police with drug dealers.
Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco will head the House Committee.
During the discussion held in the Assembly on 3 August, chief minister Manohar Parrikar had assured to constitute House Committee to probe into all the issues.
The other members of the committee are BJP MLAs Michael Lobo and Vishnu Wagh, Caetan Silva of Goa Vikas Party and MGP member Lavoo Mamledar.
The committee, said Parrikar, would probe into the involvement of Roy into the illegal drug trade, the issue of granting bail to drug dealer Atala and the role of police in it as well as all the queries raised during the Assembly discussion.
Besides Roy Naik’s involvement in the drug trade, issues like extortion from the dance bars and running prostitution racket were also raised.
The role of Ravi, as the home minister, was also questioned.
Cortalim MLA Mauvin Godinho objected to the committee stating that it has no member from the opposition.
Parrikar said the committee does not consist of any particular party but he had included members who have enough knowledge about the whole issue and had raised queries during discussion.

Dear Mickky, pls also raise the issue of Student Ravina and Seafarer Cipriano. Poor Ravina died due to negligence of various doctors and govt officials, Cipriano was brutally murdered at Panjim police station. Dear CM Sir, pls form the committee soon on those two issues. This committee should be led by Mauvin Godinho.
