P Nadkarni Info Commissioner; Kholkar Planning Board Dy Chairman

Dr Pandurang Nadkarni, the former chairman of Goa Board of Examinations, has been appointed the new State Information Commissioner.
Nadkarni was recently in news for filing a high court petition during Congress regime against the then Digambar Kamat government’s policy on Medium of Instruction.
After newly sworn in Manohar Parrikar government assured the court to change the policy, Nadkarni withdrew the petition.
Parrikar later announced the new policy, which is presently under fire as he has decided to give salary grants to 127 Church-run schools in English medium.
Nadkarni, a well-known educationist, was also heading the Sarva Shiksha Abhiayan in Goa.
Meanwhile, the government has also reconstituted the Goa Planning Board with Parrikar as the chairman and Dattaprasad Kholkar as the deputy chairman, with a cabinet rank.
The Planning Board advises the government on matters relating to the formulations, implementation and evaluation of various development plans and advises the Government on macro economic policies.
The Board is also empowered to undertake research and evaluation studies in specific field of socio-economic development.
Other non-official members of the Planning Board are environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar, educationists Prof Datta B Naik and Deelip Betkekar, eminent surgeon and social activist Dr. Shekhar Salkar, businessman Victor Albuquerque, hoteliers Gaurish Dhond and Ralph D’Souza, scientist Dr Nandkumar Kamat, Curtorim BJP candiadate Domnic Gaunkar as well as Pandurang Naik and Dilip Ramchandra Naik from Fatorda, Keshav Savoikar from Assagao, Ulhas B. Phaldessai from Quepem, Prasad Tilve from Sanguem, , Bevinda Colaco and Mathias Vaz from Panaji, Rajendra Bhobe from Nerul and Ramkrishna G. Ghodekar from Cuncolim.
All the ministers and Leader of Opposition will be the permanent invitees while Chief Secretary and Secretaries to Government will be Official Members. Director of Planning and Statistics will be the Member Secretary.
