The Goa tourism department has red- flagged water sports and swimming in the state beaches owing to impending monsoons, which makes the sea windy and rough.
State Captain of Port department has warned the water sport operators to stay away from the waters.
The directive that was issued today said that the water sports operators who will be continuing with their trade, despite warning, will have to face stringent action.
The department has informed that the vessels used for water sports, would be confiscated, if operators do not listen to the directives.
"The permission granted by the Captain of Ports for plying off water sports vessels within the State of Goa has come to an end," the directives read.
All the water sport operators plying their vessels within the State of Goa are also directed to stop their operations immediately.
The state government has requested the tourists to refrain from swimming during monsoon due to the rough weather condition.
"All hoteliers and tourist guides are requested to advise their guests not to venture into the sea by display of suitable placards, billboards and distributing leaflets etc," a senior tourism department official said.
Several stretches along 105-km long beach in Goa are red flagged during monsoons indicating that swimming there may prove fatal.
The state received 2.6 million tourists during last year.
The monsoon is expected to hit Goa in the first week of June, after which the state enters into lean season of tourism.
