Cortalim bye-poll postponed to 4 June

Cortalim bye-election has been postponed by two days, now on 4 June.

The Election Commission of India has taken a decision in view of holiday being declared tomorrow, the last date of nominations, due to panchayat elections.

The ECI has now postponed last date of nominations to 17 May.  The scrutiny would be held on 18 May.

Since 20 May is Sunday, the last date of withdrawal, instead of 19 May, would be now 21 May.

Accordingly, in order to give enough time to the candidates for campaigning, the polling date has been postponed to 4 June, instead of 2 June.

The counting however would be held on 15 June, as scheduled.

Polling and counting would have a gap of 11 days since the ECI is going for bye-elections in 29 Assembly constituencies in the states of Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar and Jharkhand.

Seems like bad planning & scheduling by the ECI.Seems like a case of "SHOOT FIRST, TALK LATER".

Lets us hop ethe ECI have been using the 2012 Calendar and not 1220.
