Cortalim bye-poll on 2 June, counting on 15 June
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 24 April 2012 20:54 IST

The Cortalim bye-election will be held on 2 June.
The seat had fallen vacant after tourism minister Matanhy Saldhana died after a sudden heart attack on 21 March.
The code of conduct for the whole South Goa district however has come into effect from today itself.
The Election Commission of India has stated that the counting would be held on 15 June.
The ECI has decided to conduct two bye-elections – Cortalim in Goa and Neyyattinkara in Kerala.
The bye-election schedule is as follows:
Notification : 9 May 2012.
Nominations : 9 to 16 May 2012.
Scrutiny : 17 May 2012.
Withdrawals : 18 & 19 May 2012.
Polling : 2 June 2012.
Counting : 15 June 2012.
Unlike recent Assembly election, the polling would start at 8 am, and not 7 am, till 5 pm.
As usual, the ECI will use EVMs for polling.

Please do not tell Churchil Alemao and Valanka Alemao about EVM`s,for the counting proccess. They will suffer from cardiac arrest.!!
The United Goans Deception Party (UGDP),will hopefully put -up one of their lame horses, and surefire loser.Their election arithmetic, is flawed. They are coming only to make some money,in the hope another Party will pay them to leave contesting. They will expect no less than Rs 2-3 crores to widthdraw.
The Congress Party, who were conked-out at the last elections, will surely pretend they have been reformed .Do not be sucked in by their deceit.Lepoards never change their spots. They have not done so since Indian Independence either.
I hope the folks of Cortalim, will elect Alina Saldanha (if she decided to stand for ther elections). She is a clean candidate and will give her heart to the voters of Cortalim and ensure them of their welfare.
The Goa Vikas Party (GVP) can surely waste their Party Supremos money. He has plenty to throw about...like confetti.
