Taking a serious note of an incident of molestation reported at Colva, the Goa State Women Commission (GSWC) has issued a notice to the local police.
GSWC chairman Ezilda Sapeco today said that she had sought a detailed report from Colva police station after two Russian women, on their way to beach, were allegedly molested and robbed by unknown persons last evening.
Saying that police will have to submit the report within six days, Sapeco termed the incident as "disturbing".
"These incidents are not good for the tourism sector and also for the safety of women in the area," Sapeco told PTI.
She said the police had been asked to increase the patrolling at the spots where such incidents were reported, and nab the culprits at the earliest.
The Russians women, who were with an Indian male friend, were attacked by two motorcycle-borne persons last evening.
Sapeco said similar cases had been reported by media from the area earlier too, which forced the commission to seek an explanation from the police.
The commission members would be visiting the Colva police station soon, she said.
