Why Cong not having Bahujan Samaj CM?: Venkaiah
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 31 January 2012 22:25 IST

BJP national vice president Venkaiah Naidu has retaliated asking the Congress why they do not have the chief minister belonging to the Bahujan Samaj.
He was requested to react at the press conference to the allegation made by Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik that the BJP is sidelining the Bahujan Samaj from taking over the party leadership.
Shantaram had made the allegation in relation to the ongoing controversy of North Goa MP Shripad Naik being denied ticket from Porvorim.
The issue is not related to mere seat of Porvorim but who would be made the chief minister, in case the BJP comes to power.
Manohar Parrikar, the former CM, belongs to the Saraswat Brahmin community, the uppermost caste among the Goan Hindus.
He has been a popular candidate for the CM’s post once again.
Shripad, on the other hand, belongs to the Bhandari community, the OBC. An equally large number of BJP cadre (silently) feels that Shripad be now given the opportunity to become the BJP CM.
On the other hand, the Congress had Digambar Kamat as the chief minister for five years.
Kamat again belongs to the same Saraswat Brahmin community.
The caste war had almost died down in Goan politics since a decade.
But with Shripad issue, the war has started heating up once again.

Politics is a dirty game if you are watching the elections and thereafter for past many years especially when Congress and BJP landed in goa. Don't blame certain politicians for their misgivings like the holiday issue what where out christian leaders and greedy ministers doing when that issue took place. Congress is running the present goverment what have they done in the name of secular. Thye have robbed the goans and sold our mines and land to the highest bidder.
It is congress leaders who make the issues in the name of religion.

@ Kalidas,
Manohar Parrikar is the worst politician in Goan politics. He is father of communalism in goa and also the new salazar. His only aim is to destroy the secular fabric of goa.
Shripad Naik on the other hand is a down to earth very simple person. If any Christian or Muslim will vote for BJP candidate then it will only be for such a person.
Delbert, Margao Goa.

Forgetting political statements, caste has never been dead. In fact, in Goa, people are ready to overlook religion but never a caste. However it goes to the credit of Manohar Parrikar that today congressmen, including all castes and religions, respect only one man in all the opposition parties and that is Parrikar. This is not fear it is genuin respect. If it were not for the Hindutva group activities, though unproved in legal parlance, against other religions and well, castes, BJP under Manohar Parrikar would have egiven a tough fight to Congress
