PSI Vaibhav Naik
A police sub-inspector (PSI) was arrested on Sunday in connection with a counterfeit currency case.
PSI Vaibhav Naik, attached to Vasco police station, was placed under arrest after his role in pushing the counterfeit currency notes came to light, police spokesman John Aguiyar said.
Aguiyar said investigations are on to confirm whether the notes, pushed by Naik, were from the police seizure of the fake notes.
Three persons have already been arrested by Calangute police in this connection.
Police had recovered fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs. 2.77 lakh hidden in an unused toilet flush tank at an office in the port town of Vasco.
The notes were being brought to Goa to be used in casinos, officials said.
The breakthrough came after police arrested Aditya Yadav, 32, alias Chintamani from Vasco and Hemant Chodankar, 34, from Baina on Tuesday.
The third accused was arrested subsequently.
While Chodankar is a labour contractor, Chintamani works for a private company which caters to chartered flight tourists at Dabolim airport.
The PSI's role in the entire racket was revealed by the accused during interrogation, police said.

The rather impotent and useless Home Minister Ravi Naik, will probably also state that there is no FAKE currency in Goa.
He will shortly make his remark, after he has completed his tour, along with the DGP ,of all the "Flush Toilet Systems" of the Police and perhaps Politicians too.
Cops investigating Cops are also kown, to do their job professionally.
Vibhav Naik should not worry about his job too.He will get it back after a brief suspension. It is Goa Police Policy.
Vibav Naik should have tried Churchill & Jokin Jo instead of Digamber Kamat for getting his job back or leniency.
Their threat of resignation, a trip to New Delhi for sweet words of comfort , and Vibhav would have got his job back...after paying lakhs to get it.

Very sorry state of affairs. some involved in crimes, some in thefts, some in drug trade, some in rapes, some becoming drunkards with easy liquor, some involved in fake currency rackets---who are those people...? Are they criminals?? Are they thieves. ?? Are they robbers..?
Are they being paid from public exchequer...?
Why this degeneration...? Who are responsible for this disgrace...? Do the concerned Political Bosses owe any responsibility for this mess...? Are they not ashamed of all this what is happening under their very nose...? Or is it that they themselves are connected in some or other way...?
