Churchill-Mauvin claim English medium has already started

Goa government has assured the high court to block the implementation of allowing English medium in the aided primary schools. But English-supporting Congress ministers claim that schools have already started teaching in English medium.

On the other hand, the government today told Advocate General Subodh Kantak to prepare an affidavit, to be submitted in the high court on Monday, on how the English medium decision would be implemented.

Both PWD minister Churchill Alemao and deputy speaker Mauvin Godinho today told the media that English medium has already started in some of the aided schools.

They were speaking to the media after the joint meeting of ministers and the monitoring committee, convened by chief minister Digambar Kamat, to decide on what to tell the high court.

“Where is the question of implementation, it’s already implemented,” said Alemao.

“Classes in English medium have already started”, Godinho informed.

Chief minister Kamat and education minister Babush Monseratte however played a little different tune after the meeting.

Both of them told the media that deliberations are still on and they may meet again on Monday, if required, before filing the affidavit.

Both of them however appeared firm on implementing the decision this year itself.

“We have to decide about the modalities and also discuss the flaws pointed out by the monitoring committee”, said Kamat.

The four-member monitoring committee, headed by education secretary V P Rao, had expressed its inability to implement the decision during this academic year, while pointing out several difficulties and technicalities.

Chief minister Kamat however feels that implementation during the same academic year is possible, stating that the difficulties pointed out by the monitoring committee are merely some flaws, which the government could easily overcome.

Educationist Pandurang Nadkarni and three parents, who have rushed to the court seeking inerim stay on the government decision, have claimed that the government decision on English medium is completely illegal.

The government, at a cabinet meeting held on 25 May, had decided to allow grants to run English medium schools and also allow aided schools (running in Konkani and Marathi medium) as well as government primary schools to shift to English medium, if parents wish to.

Based on the decision, the education department had issued a circular in this regard immediately, while the government had appointed the monitoring committee to implement the decision.

Much ado has been created by the hypocrites and konkanni traitors n treacherous elements in ganging up against the English language. Our motherland is blessed by many virtues which are absent in other nations/continents of our planet. Hever the deep rooted Indian culture of hypocrisy n corruption cannot be easily uprooted n thrown in the dustbin of History, resulting in our India's ranking very very low in the world. If the Babusam(BBSM) is rooting for mother tongue (I am the 1st on their side) then why Marathi which is not at all the mother tongue of Goans may be Hindus, Christians or Muslims. Remember the language riots in Assam between the original and native Assamese against the settlers Bengalis when the Bongos were enforcing Bengalis on the naive Assamese. Another pt of friction between the Kannadigas natives/inhabitants of Bangalore and the ethnic/settlers Tamil population amongst the Christian fraternity for dominance in Church affairs. Obviously, both the Assamese n Christian Kannadigas triumphed as the abv states were inherently belonging to them. Likewise, our mothertongue Konkani undoubtedly triumped over Marathi as a sole official language of Goa. Goans hv unearthed the diabolical designs of the hypocritical BBSM n this orgn shd be kept in the cold just as the traitorous MGP is totally discarded by we Goankars. I am a konkanni speaking Mee Mul Mumbaikar of Goan parentage and wud hv definitely enrolled by two sons in Konkanni primary schools if I was Goa in settled. Nothwithstanding, I am out n out for grants to English medium primary schools as retaining the present status for we Goankar mother tongue KONKANNI is my priority.
