With more than half of the off-shore casino vessels in Goan waters operating without NOCs, the state government today sought submission of all required documents from these vessels within a month.
State Ports Minister Nilkant Halarnkar told the state legislative assembly today that the NOCs of the five vessels, out of seven, have expired.
Responding to the volley of questions posed by Opposition benches led by Manohar Parrikar, Halarnkar said he has asked all the casinos to produce all the documents required for NOC before the deadline ends on April 1 this year.
Halarnkar said of the five, two vessels are in the drydock and not in the Mandovi river waters.
NOCs granted to three others have expired long back. The NOC granted to Mv Casino Royale expired way back in 2009 while MV San Domino vessel in 2009.
Another vessel, MV Boa Sorte has expired in February 2011.
Parrikar raising the issue on the floor of the House said that ports department was not strict enough against these vessels.
Congress legislator Dayanand Narvekar alleged that the only partial sewage from these vessels is taken by a contractor while the rest is flushed down in the river.
