Lawyers demand judge Bhakre's suspension

The lawyers’ agitation has taken a step ahead with a demand to suspend South Goa district and sessions judge Utkarsh Bhakre.
The South Goa Advocates’ Association has also written the President of India and the Supreme Court, demanding a separate high court for Goa.
Association president Adv Anacleto Viegas has threatened to disobey the law of contempt and collide with the judiciary if the demand of a separate high court is not met within a fortnight.
Adv Viegas has pointed out that the chargesheet served on suspended judge Desmond D’Costa is nothing but a replica of the complaint filed by judge Bhakre against judge D’Costa, based on which he was suspended.
Contrary to this, he recalls, judge Bhakre had told the South Goa bar members that he has not filed any complaint against judge D’Costa.
In view of this, the association has now demanded judge Bhakre’s suspension for filing a false complaint against judge D’Costa and misleading the bar members by making a false statement and deliberately deceiving the bar members.
It has also urged the high court not to elevate judge Bhakre as the high court judge
The association has also reiterated that judge D’Costa’s suspension be revoked by completing inquiry, if any, against judge D’Costa within 15 days.
Similarly, Adv Viegas has pointed that the inquiry report has exonerated judge Anuja Prabhudesai of all the charges. In spite of this, the disciplinary committee of Bombay high court has not accepted the report and has issued a fresh show cause notice to judge Prabhudesai.
In view of this, he has demanded that both the inquiry reports be accepted.
The demand is not to victimise and demoralise both the upright and knowledgeable judges – D’Costa and Prabhudesai.

is it not amusing to see an association which rather should be concerned about the advocates rather then the judges ? i am an practising advocate and i belive in rule of law. as such all of us i.e. the members of the Bar and also the members of bench should strive to uphold the dignity of law and not be on the streets shouting slogans. if the members of the bench are demoralised and victimised, then let them follow the rule of law and let us then all support them. the judiciary is respected by the people because it brings out the truth and imparts justice to those it is denied.

It is unfortunate, that those who deliver justice fairly and squarely, are themselves denied justice thru' the administrative wing of the justice system. A split personality or a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde syndrome?
We need a separate High Coiurt of Goa, it's true for all this to be cured.

Let the guilty of victimisation be suitably punished and the honest and upright s be exonerated.
The complaint against the Hon. Desmond D'Cost and Anuja appear to be made with some motives other than what are seen by the common man. May be the whole thing is perpetrated because of the vacancy risen in the High Court as rightly guessed by Dr. J.C.Almeida. All such gimmicks could be to cut the names of the competitors to project self as the only fit person for the vacant post.....
For the knowledge of the common man --and for the transparency and in public interest--it is absolutely necessary for the authorities to clarify the whole issue without any further delay......
