Judge Anuja Prabhudesai
While the Goa is furious over the suspension of Desmond D'Costa, Industrial Tribunal judge Anuja Prabhudesai has been served a fresh show cause notice by the High court.
Prabhudesai was suspended last year in February itself in the same manner D’Costa has been suspended now.
Lawyers were agitated with the decision at that time. After inquiry, she was proved innocent by the registrar I K Jain and reinstated in December.
But now she has been served a show cause notice, as to why she should not be held guilty of the charges.
The decision is being taken by the five-member Special Disciplinary Committee, headed by the chief justice of Bombay high court.
Judge Prabhudesai was served two chargesheets, one in August 2009 and another one in February last year, without any complaint made against her. The February chargesheet came along with suspension notice.
The lawyers from all over Goa rose up in protest and even held a huge public meeting, demanding revocation of her suspension.
The high court however extended her suspension by six more months while she replied to her chargesheets.
Meanwhile, registrar I K Jain, in her inquiry, held her not guilty of the charges made against her in the second chargesheet.
The inquiry report of the first chargesheet is still not out.
Meanwhile, Prabhudesai has been served with a fresh show cause notice, asking her why she should not be held guilty while rejecting the inquiry report.
The lawyers, who are presently protesting against judge D’Costa’s suspension, have strongly objected to the show cause notice

Anuja and her family have gone through enough trauma in the past year, we still have no answers as to why she is being treated in such a shabby manner by the High Court of Mumbai.
Can the disciplinary committee please enlighten the people of GOA as to why, why they keep inflicting this continuous torture on Anuja Prabhudesai? Why did they suspend her, what was the complaint? Do they know her? Have they even met her face to face? Can they even hear the legal fraternity that is vouching for her integrity? Why are they rejecting the inquiry report of their very own registrar?
If Anuja was not innocent, she would have crumbled under this pressure, it has been a tough year and it appears it is not over. Meanwhile it might be worthwhile for Goans to know..........WHY?
