Platinum jubilee of Odiya film industry opened at IFFI

Platinum jubilee celebrations of Odiya film was inaugurated today at IFFI 2010 by Prafulla Samal, Minister of Information & Public Relations of Odisha.
Mohan Sunder Dev Goswami in 1934 mooted the idea of producing Odiya film and today IFFI 2010 saw the platinum jubilee celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Samal expressed the need to widen the cinema hall network in the State.
He appealed to the Central Government, banks and NFDC to come forward to help cine industry in Odisha.
He also assured the film industry that State Government will also do the needful to promote Odiya cinema in the State.
"We are happy to include Odiya industry in IFFI, 2010 as it is celebrating platinum jubilee", said S. M. Khan, Festival Director.
He also informed that around 35 Odiya films are produced annually.
He expressed hope that in case of South, native population will come forward to support Odiya films.
Veteran actor Gloria Mahapatra, noted Director Neerad Mahapatra, A. K. Bir, Prashant Nand were felicitated on the occasion.
Inauguration was followed by screening of opening film of this Section ‘Adi Mimamsa’.
In all, 6 films will be screened in this section.
