CBI inquiry is a revenge: Arlekar

A day after their leader was quizzed for alleged financial misappropriation, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said that they were not shying away from the CBI inquiry but instead want the case to be finalized quickly.

BJP's Goa spokesman Rajendra Arlekar said that the party wants that investigation be conducted expediously, if possible, on day to day basis so as to end this long standing case.
 
Leader of Opposition and Former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was quizzed on Thursday by CBI, who are investigating financial misappropriation alleged in creating infrastructure for International Film Festival of India in 2004.
 
A Congress legislator Mauvin Godinho, based on the findings of Comptroller Auditor General (CAG), who had claimed the spending on infrastructure as `wasteful expenditure.'
 
Arlekar, briefing media persons, said that Congress-led union government was resorting to `revenge' against BJP by harassing their leader.
 
"We are questioning why CBI had to call Parrikar for interrogation after so long. The case was filed in 2005 and CBI summoned him for statement after five years," the spokesman said.
 
Arlekar said that current chief minister Digamber Kamat was then a cabinet member and party to various IFFI related decisions. "CBI should also question Kamat in this case," he demanded.
 
The BJP spokesman termed CBI as `Congress Bureau of Investigation' claiming that the agency was working at the behest of Congress-led central government.
 
"CBI is being selectively used against opposition by Congress government. Be it Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mayawati,  Amar Singh, Lalu Prasad Yadav...," Arlekar alleged.

Mr Arlekar should remember that the practice of misusing the administrative machinery to terrorise the opponents was started by BJP itself during its rule in Goa. Anyone remembers the treatment meted out to Somnath Juwarkar, Dayanand Narvekar, Mauvin Godibnho etc?

Misusing the investigating agency by politicians- for which the only solution is to give full autonomy to it to get it free from political interference to harass the opposition!

I wish the BJP should incorporate these important issues in their next manifesto to set the things right!

Revenge has been the game all along among the politicians. Be it any party exacting revenge during the rule is another motto of these politicians. Result as seen:: the outsiders have an upper hand over us the locals I mean the genuine by root/origins Goans. We can never be united to fight the invading forces and building our own society to benevolency. Unimaginable, unthinkable and unsocial are our present, save a few, uneducated politicians a line of PILOTS, TAILORS, LOAFERS, GOONDAS SMUGGLERS, COBBLERS, FISH MONGERS and what not.
