Furthering the conflict between locals and foreigners in Goa, a village-level citizens forum has decided to move to the high court against a British couple, who allegedly forged a ration card of a local.

Pilern Citizens Forum, a local non-government organisation based in a coastal taluka of Bardez, today showed a ration card. It shows Urban William Paul (73) and his wife Janet (65) as son and daughter of Jose Pereira. Jose is however only 32-year old.

"We are moving to the high court against the couple and government officers who have committed this fraud to help a Britisher," Prakash Banododkar, convenor, Pilern Citizens Forum, told reporters today.

"The fraud was conceded to by the district administration, which has refused to act against the talathi and the mamlatdar (both revenue officers)," Bandodkar said.

He alleged the British couple, which had purchased a top floor of Dias' house in Nerul village, forged the documents in connivance with the revenue officers.

"We had brought this case to light through media four months back. After that the state government admitted the fraud. But none of the officers are suspended," Bandodkar said.

The forum has now begun a process to collect details of all the ration cards in the village, which is dotting Candolim, Calangute and Coco beach.

"We have found lots of unrecognised names in the ration cards. We will expose this scam in near future," a member said.

Pilern Citizen Forum's action is yet another blow in the local and foreigners' relations which is getting bitter in this coastal state.

Morjim, a village in North Goa, had resolved against Russians recently after a local taxi driver was beaten to death by a Russian businessman.

In yet another incident on Wednesday, a Russian broke window screen of a local over petty street argument.

Why does the Media not Mentioned about the death of an goan by some Russians? Goverment should take some Action against Russians. If we Goans keep quite and media starts hiding like these, we will not know what's going around our Beautiful Goa. We all Goans should fight for the right.
