Covid19 deaths have declined in one month, but not the proportion of deaths between the age group of 41 to 80. Though Goa lost three infants in October, the number of deaths among the youngsters has however reduced. Also the deaths among those above 80 years.

Compared to 234 deaths in September, the death rate came down to 179 in October. A decline of 55, which is a sigh of relief.

Goa also reported nine deaths of the old people above 80 years in October, compared to 21 in September.

In the age group up to 20 years, we had lost only one 12-year-old boy from Pernem in September. But last month was horrifying with three infants and one 20-year-old boy from Porvorim succumbing to the deadly virus.

The infants included a two-month-old baby boy from Guirim, a one-year-old baby boy from Ponda, and an eight-month-old baby girl from Quepem.

But the mid-age group between 41 to 80 continues to be the most vulnerable to the deadly virus. In this age group, Goa lost 193 patients in September and 158 last month. 35 less.

However, in terms of percentage, it was 82 percent in September and 80 percent last month in this age group.

The death toll in the age group of 41 to 60, which should be less vulnerable, declined from 74 to 57. But the percentage remained static at 32

Also, though the number of deaths reported in the age group of 61 to 80 appears less, the actual percentage has increased in this most vulnerable group.

The number of 119 deaths in this age group in September reduced to 101 last month. But actually, the percentage has increased from 51 to 56.

Half of those succumb to Covid19 are from this age group.

But also a matter of worry is that almost one-third of deaths are in the age group of 41 to 50. is now on Telegram & also Youtube. Kindly subscribe for free & remain updated.
