Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch coordinator and Goa’s RSS leader Subhash Velingkar has resigned from the committee set up to celebrate 60 years of Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.

Earlier, Velingkar had justified his acceptance to the inclusion of his name in the celebration committee, stating that it is a personal celebration and he is associated with Parsekar for several decades in the Sangh Parivar.

However, he has now sent his resignation letter to the CM’s office, stating that he is resigning by respecting the sentiments expressed by BBSM activists.

The BBSM and RSS are presently on a warpath on the issue of giving salary grants to the Church-run English primary schools.

“I will re-establish my friendship with CM Parsekar after he decides to withdraw the government grants”, he stated in a press note issued in this regard.

Velingkar states that CM Parsekar has fully backed the sin committed by former CM Manohar Parrikar of continuing grants to the Church-run English primary schools by taking U-turn on BJP’s election promise to withdraw the grants after coming to power.

“The resentment of BBSM workers against inclusion of my name in the celebration committee is a clear reflection of the frustration brewing among the people against the BJP-led government”, states Velingkar.

He also observes that Parsekar government has compelled the people to come on roads for over a year on the MoI issue while not bowing down to people’s pressure.

Parsekar is considered to be one of Velingkar’s disciples in the RSS, who was later deputed in the BJP along with forest minister Rajendra Arlekar.

The duo was then followed by defence minister Manohar Parrikar and union Ayush minister Shripad Naik.

Presently, the BJP ranks are divided on the MoI issue with Arlekar and Shripad supporting the RSS-led BBSM while Parrikar and Parsekar are firm on not withdrawing the grants to Church-run schools.

Parsekar has started negotiating with the BBSM to find a via media on the issue and already has one round of discussions last week.

Though they have not reached any conclusion, the CM is hopeful of resolving the issue amicably.

The BBSM however is firm on not compromising anything less than withdrawing grants. is now on Telegram & also Youtube. Kindly subscribe for free & remain updated.
